Happy Independence Day Peru!

The last two days (July 28-29) were set aside for Peruvians to celebrate their independence. Also, this week we had a very weird couple of days where there was a heavy cloud cover over the mountains and the skies remained overcast. We got some rain showers two days in a row and it was unusually windy (it never rains unless it is the rainy season and we never have strong winds). Anyway, the combination of independence day and unusual weather was a great opportunity for pictures. The volcano and mountain chain are covered in snow. We were told that you could be fined if you didn't have a Peruvian flag on your home so to look down the streets and see Peruvian flags flying in the unusually stong breeze with a big huge snow covered volcano in the background was pretty cool if you ask us. The picture doesn't capture what you would see in person, but here it is:
