My sweet friend and teammate, Larissa, hosted a baby shower for me last night.  The ladies at our Bible Study kept asking if I was having a shower, and they agreed this past Wednesday night on a date.  It was a wonderful event.  We took the opportunity to invite many of the contacts we have here in Arequipa.  Larissa was able to invite her neighbors (it isn't weird here to invite someone that doesn't know the person the shower is for).  My landlady came, Alfredo's wife, Judith, and many from our Wednesday night Bible study.  It was such a neat group of women, and we had a blast.  Thank you so much, Larissa, for taking on the task.  And also, a huge thanks to Briana (Larissa's sister) and Kristen (a friend from Tyler) who are here visiting.  They prepared a delicious spread and the shower was lovely.

When the ladies walked in, they guessed how many jelly-bellies were in a baby bottle (Dori, our missionary friend here, won that game).  Also, each lady got 5 clothes pins to wear throughout the shower.  If someone heard you say any form of "baby," they could take one of your clothes pins.  The person with the most at the end of the shower won (congrats Isabella!).  The reason I didn't post many pictures of the present opening is because I thought it would be inappropriate to show you my hefty bod sporting a nursing bra.  I had to guess what each gift was.  If I guessed incorrectly, I had to place a nursing pad in the bra.  It is more typical for the husband to take part and drink a cup of beer for every incorrect answer, so they came up with an alternative--clever, huh!

We had such a great time, and I came away from the shower with very practical items like diapers and wipes, creams and shampoo.  It was such a joy to celebrate and laugh with a big group of Peruvian women.  I was thankful to introduce Mrs. Pinto to the Bible Study ladies.  Toward the end of the shower they said, "Megan, she wants to come to Bible study this week with you."  So... the Pintos are coming to Bible study with us.  It is amazing how opportunites just happen.

I am very blessed to be here and have so many Peruvian women love on me and Maggie Kate during this time.  Enjoy the pictures.  Hopefully, MK will be showing her sweet newborn face in the pictures really soon.  I am about to pop!  2 weeks from my due date!
